These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the MyRoommateAndI platform. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using MyRoommateAndI, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the platform.
2. About MyRoommateAndI
MyRoommateAndI is a student-focused platform designed to help users discover housing opportunities, connect with potential roommates, communicate with other users, participate in Community, and interact with businesses through Business World.
Features may change, be added, paused, or removed as the platform develops.
3. User Accounts & Eligibility
Some MyRoommateAndI features require an account. You are responsible for providing accurate information and keeping your login credentials secure.
You must not create an account using another person's identity, impersonate another user, or knowingly provide false information.
If your account information changes, you should update it where the platform provides the ability to do so.
4. User Responsibilities
When using MyRoommateAndI, you agree to:
- Use the platform lawfully and responsibly.
- Provide truthful and non-misleading information.
- Respect other users and their privacy.
- Keep your account credentials confidential.
- Use listings, messaging, Community, and Business World features for their intended purposes.
- Report suspicious, fraudulent, abusive, or unsafe activity when you become aware of it.
5. Housing & Roommate Listings
MyRoommateAndI may allow users to create and discover apartment, housing, and roommate-related listings.
Users who publish listings are responsible for the accuracy of the information, images, prices, descriptions, availability, and other details they provide.
MyRoommateAndI does not automatically guarantee that a property, listing, roommate profile, landlord, property owner, or other party is suitable, genuine, available, or able to complete a transaction.
Users should independently verify important information and exercise appropriate caution before making payments, signing agreements, sharing sensitive information, or meeting another person.
6. Community
Community allows users to share posts, ask questions, discuss topics, react to content, comment, follow other users, save content, and participate in student-focused conversations.
You are responsible for content you publish and for your interactions with other users.
Content that is unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, deliberately deceptive, or otherwise prohibited by the platform may be removed and may result in account restrictions.
7. Business World
Business World provides features through which businesses and business owners may present business profiles, products, services, offers, promotions, and related information to users.
Business owners are responsible for the accuracy of information they publish and for fulfilling their own products, services, offers, and customer commitments.
Customers should review business information carefully and make their own decisions before purchasing products, requesting services, making payments, or sharing personal information.
Business Chat is provided as a communication feature between customers and businesses. Users should not use Business Chat for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful activity.
8. Messaging & Communications
MyRoommateAndI may provide user-to-user messaging and Business Chat features. Users are responsible for the communications they send.
Do not use messaging features to send spam, scams, malicious content, threats, unauthorized advertisements, or requests for sensitive credentials such as passwords or authentication codes.
9. Payments, Subscriptions & Promotions
Certain platform features may involve payments, subscriptions, promotional services, or other paid activities.
Where applicable, the price, duration, eligibility, and other conditions of a paid feature will be presented before the relevant transaction.
Payments may be processed through third-party payment providers. Users must provide accurate information required for a transaction and comply with applicable payment-provider terms.
Promotional placement, subscription status, or other paid platform features do not by themselves guarantee sales, enquiries, engagement, housing outcomes, or other particular results.
10. User-Generated Content
You retain your rights in content you submit to MyRoommateAndI, subject to the rights necessary for the platform to operate.
By submitting content, you give MyRoommateAndI permission to host, store, reproduce, display, and technically process that content as reasonably necessary to provide the features you use, operate the platform, maintain security, and improve the service.
You represent that you have the necessary rights to submit the content and that your content does not unlawfully infringe another person's rights.
11. Prohibited Activities
You must not use MyRoommateAndI to:
- Commit or facilitate unlawful activity.
- Defraud, scam, deceive, threaten, harass, or exploit another person.
- Impersonate another person or organization.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, APIs, or data.
- Upload malicious code, harmful files, or content intended to disrupt the platform.
- Scrape, copy, or systematically collect platform data without authorization.
- Publish knowingly false or fraudulent listings.
- Use the platform to distribute spam or unsolicited bulk communications.
- Abuse payment, voting, promotional, messaging, or other platform mechanisms.
12. Safety, Scams & Third-Party Conduct
Interactions between users, businesses, property providers, roommates, and other third parties may involve risks. Users should use reasonable precautions and independently verify important claims.
MyRoommateAndI may take action against accounts or content that we reasonably believe violate these Terms, threaten platform security, or create risks for users.
Users should never share passwords, verification codes, payment credentials, or other highly sensitive account information with another user or business through ordinary platform conversations.
13. Intellectual Property
The MyRoommateAndI name, branding, platform design, software, original graphics, text, and other platform materials are owned by or used by MyRoommateAndI and may be protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, or commercially exploit protected MyRoommateAndI materials without appropriate authorization.
14. Account Suspension & Termination
MyRoommateAndI may suspend, restrict, or terminate an account where reasonably necessary to address violations of these Terms, fraud, abuse, security risks, unlawful activity, or other serious misuse of the platform.
Users may also stop using the platform and may request account-related assistance through the available support channels.
15. Platform Availability & Changes
We may update, modify, pause, or discontinue particular features or parts of the platform as the service develops.
Although we aim to keep the platform available and reliable, uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.
16. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
MyRoommateAndI is provided as a platform for connecting users and providing digital services. Information supplied by users, businesses, property providers, and other third parties may not always be complete, accurate, current, or independently verified.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, MyRoommateAndI is not responsible for independent actions, agreements, payments, disputes, representations, products, services, properties, or other dealings between users and third parties.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability or legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
17. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in the MyRoommateAndI Privacy Policy. By using the platform, you acknowledge that your information may be processed as described there.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions when the platform, its features, or applicable requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
Continued use of the platform after an update may constitute acceptance of the revised terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are intended to be interpreted in accordance with the applicable laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, subject to any mandatory legal rights or requirements that may apply.
